Mentor Program
Our Mentor Program is an opt-in program, and is a huge benefit for our Murphy Scholars. A DMSF mentor is a sounding board, a friend and a source of wisdom. The guiding hand of a caring mentor can have a profound and lasting impact on a DMSF Scholar, and has the potential of creating a lifelong relationship.
Together the mentor and scholar engage in activities that are fun and also productive for the scholar’s scholastic and developmental advancement. The mentor’s role is to provide guidance, support, reassurance, and feedback to their scholar. Having a mentor is a way to meet new people, experience new places, network professionally, and learn about different careers, colleges, and cultures. DMSF Affinity Group
The Affinity Group (AG) is an opt-in program for exclusive Scholars that begins the fall of their freshmen year and continues through their senior year. It blends in and out of the office activities and events to achieve a well-rounded experience of fun, diversity, culture, accountability and education.
Affinity Groups meet every other Saturday during the school year starting mid-November and ending mid-May. The meetings are comprised of in and out of the office activities and events to achieve a well-rounded experience of fun, diversity, culture, accountability and education. Each group (currently 5) consists of 10-12 same gender Scholars from different schools, and a facilitator who is a DMSF Alum.

Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund hosts every year, on President's Day, a mandatory event for all Scholars. Our Annual Summer Opportunities Fair features a myriad of summer programs, internships, cultural and study programs, sports programs, community service opportunities, and more to solicit Scholar involvement during their summer.
Murphy Scholars travel abroad with the financial support of partner programs. DMSF assists a number of students in the grant application process to secure funding to travel all over the world. It is our hope to present Scholars with plentiful opportunities to keep them inspired, active and motivated during the upcoming summer! Parents are welcome to join but are not obligated to attend. Caddie ProgramThis competitive program provides immediate and long-term benefits for DMSF Scholars—immediately, Scholars earn spending money and gain job experience while caddying at local country clubs for the summer.
Caddies have the option to live in college dormitories for the duration of the program and experience independence away from home. Caddying, in addition to maintaining good grades, also makes Scholars eligible to apply for the Chick Evans Scholarship, a four-year, full tuition college scholarship awarded by the Western Golf Association. Freshman can apply for the caddie program after the first semester. Please see the criteria to apply for the Caddie Program: |
